Competences:
  • Minimum 3 years experience building WordPress sites
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. JavaScript is a bonus
  • Basic understanding of UX principles and accessibility standards
  • Ability to translate client needs and branding strategies into effective design strategies
  • Knowledge of responsive design and adherence to best practices in website development
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Proficiency in problem-solving creatively and effectively
  • Basic skills in image manipulation, such as scaling images and removing backgrounds
  • Understanding of the differences between structured and non-structured content
  • In-depth knowledge of WordPress post types, taxonomies, and custom fields
Responsibilities:
  • Utilize WordPress page builders, primarily Kadence and Elementor, to create engaging and responsive website layouts and templates
  • Analyze and interpret client-provided materials to understand the core message and target audience
  • Use qualitative analysis skills to interpret the user/audience intent and core purpose of web pages or whole sections, designing and building modern versions using WordPress page builder utilities
  • Adapt pre-designed layouts/templates to fit a client's vision and specifications
  • Implement verbal design feedback from designers confidently using WordPress page building tools
  • Identify defining stylistic attributes of an existing design and build additional content widgets that visually pair with the original design's theme
  • Participate in client calls to discuss website design goals and use knowledge of WordPress tools and limitations to make strategic, on-the-fly recommendations
  • Present finished work to clients in a consultative manner to achieve their buy-in and approval
  • Assist in maintaining a library of WordPress blocks and UI components for use in future projects
