As a WordPress Architect, you will work on large, scalable projects while communicating clearly with clients and colleagues about both technical and non-technical issues. You will provide strategic advice to project stakeholders and collaborate with other departments and teams to deliver successful solutions.

The ideal candidate can translate client requirements into technical approaches while considering scope and budget. This person is a keen problem-solver, an active participant in strategic discussions, and takes pride in delivering successful projects through clear communication, organization, and high-quality code.

Responsibilities

  • Architect complex custom WordPress solutions
  • Adhere to and implement WordPress coding standards and best practices
  • Troubleshoot urgent issues
  • Collaborate with project managers and development teams
  • Provide actionable feedback to managers and teammates
  • Estimate level of effort for project tasks
  • Communicate with clients to gather requirements and determine the best way to implement solutions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience at an agency level
  • 3+ years of experience working with WooCommerce
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions, Composer, or Buddy Works
  • Experience with hosting providers such as WP Engine, WP VIP, Pantheon, and AWS
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and third-party vendors
  • Experience performing code reviews for peers and giving constructive feedback
  • Experience integrating external services including payment processors, membership software, CRMs, and Single Sign On
  • Ability to manage development budgets on a project

Nice to Have

  • Agile and Scrum experience
  • Experience creating headless WordPress solutions, including Next.js or React
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects, including WordPress
  • Experience working with Gutenberg and custom blocks
  • Experience mentoring and leading a team
  • Experience working within an agency
  • Experience using Composer
  • Experience using AI tools

We offer a generous compensation and benefits package. The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $95,000-$130,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
