Shopware Architect/Senior Developer

As a Shopware Architect, you will work on large, scalable eCommerce projects while communicating clearly with clients and colleagues about both technical and non-technical issues. You will provide strategic technical leadership to project stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful digital commerce solutions.

The ideal candidate can translate client requirements into scalable technical architectures while balancing business goals, project scope, and budget. This person is a strong problem-solver, an active participant in technical strategy discussions, and takes pride in delivering high-quality solutions through clear communication, sound architectural decisions, and best-in-class development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Architect complex enterprise Shopware 6 solutions for B2B and B2C commerce
  • Design scalable, maintainable, and extensible commerce architectures using Shopware best practices
  • Lead technical discovery sessions and translate business requirements into solution designs
  • Establish and enforce Shopware development standards, coding guidelines, and architectural best practices
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide technical leadership during critical incidents
  • Collaborate with project managers, developers, QA engineers, UX designers, and DevOps teams
  • Conduct architecture and code reviews while mentoring developers and providing actionable technical feedback
  • Estimate project effort, identify technical risks, and contribute to project planning
  • Communicate effectively with clients, third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate Shopware plugins, extensions, and integration strategies
  • Provide technical leadership for platform upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing enterprise eCommerce solutions
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience architecting and developing Shopware 6 applications
  • Strong experience with PHP 8+, Symfony, Twig, Doctrine ORM, MySQL, and REST APIs
  • Deep understanding of Shopware's plugin architecture, administration, storefront, extension framework, and Flow Builder
  • Experience designing integrations with ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, payment providers, tax services, shipping platforms, and other third-party systems
  • Experience with headless commerce concepts and Shopware's Store API
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Composer, and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience deploying and supporting cloud-based environments, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and third-party vendors
  • Experience performing architecture and code reviews while providing constructive technical feedback
  • Ability to estimate project effort and manage technical scope within project budgets

Nice to Have

  • Shopware certifications
  • Experience with Shopware B2B Suite and enterprise features
  • Experience with Vue.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frontend development
  • Experience building headless commerce solutions using React, Next.js, Vue Storefront, or similar technologies
  • Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and performance optimization
  • Experience implementing MACH or composable commerce architectures
  • Experience migrating platforms from Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WooCommerce, Shopify, or other eCommerce platforms to Shopware
  • Agile and Scrum experience
  • Experience mentoring technical teams and leading solution architecture efforts
  • Experience working within a digital agency or systems integrator
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools

We offer a generous compensation and benefits package. The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $115,000–$135,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
