Senior WordPress Full Stack Developer

As a Senior WordPress Full Stack Developer, you will lead the technical direction of complex WordPress implementations across both front-end and back-end development. This is a hands-on role for someone with deep WordPress and PHP expertise who is also comfortable with modern front-end development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Gutenberg, and component-based architecture.

The ideal candidate can translate customer requirements into scalable technical solutions while balancing quality, performance, accessibility, scope, budget, and long-term maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Architect complex WordPress solutions across front-end and back-end technologies
• Define project architecture, content models, block strategy, integrations, and deployment approaches
• Remain hands-on with development for complex features, prototypes, and technical escalations
• Build and review custom themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, and reusable components
• Partner with front-end developers to ensure responsive, accessible, performant implementations
• Architect third-party integrations including APIs, CRMs, payment systems, SSO, and other external services
• Evaluate when to use WordPress core, third-party plugins, custom development, or external platforms
• Participate in discovery, estimation, solution design, and client-facing technical discussions
• Review code and provide technical guidance across both front-end and back-end development
• Establish reusable WordPress standards and best practices across projects
• Troubleshoot complex production, performance, and architectural issues
• Mentor developers and serve as a senior technical escalation point

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional web development experience with significant WordPress experience
• Experience architecting complex or enterprise WordPress solutions
• Strong PHP and WordPress development skills
• Strong understanding of WordPress core, hooks, APIs, themes, plugins, custom post types, and Gutenberg
• Strong front-end skills including semantic HTML, modern CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience building responsive and accessible interfaces
• Experience with performance optimization and Core Web Vitals
• Experience with REST APIs, third-party integrations, and authentication
• WooCommerce experience
• Experience with Git, Composer, CI/CD, and modern development workflows
• Experience with hosting platforms such as WordPress VIP, WP Engine, Pantheon, or AWS
• Ability to estimate technical work and balance architecture with scope and budget
• Strong customer-facing and technical communication skills

• Experience with design systems or component libraries

• Experience mentoring or technically leading developers

We offer a generous compensation and benefits package. The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $95,000-$130,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
