Drupal Architect

We are seeking an experienced Drupal Architect to lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable, accessible, and maintainable Drupal solutions. This role provides technical guidance to clients and project teams while leading solution design, integrations, estimation, and development standards. The ideal candidate combines deep Drupal expertise with strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, including responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities
• Own the technical architecture of complex Drupal implementations.
• Translate business objectives and functional requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Lead solution-design discussions and document key architecture decisions, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs.
• Design integrations between Drupal and external platforms, and other third-party services.
• Enforce standards for code quality, security, accessibility, performance, maintainability, and documentation.
• Guide development of custom Drupal modules, themes, components, content models, workflows, and integrations.
• Provide technical guidance to clients and stakeholders.
• Partner with project teams on implementation approaches, estimation, risks, and planning.
• Evaluate application performance and recommend improvements involving caching, database queries, and Drupal configuration.
• Lead technical troubleshooting and support the resolution of complex or urgent production issues.
• Conduct code and architecture reviews, providing clear and actionable feedback.
• Mentor developers, encourage knowledge sharing, and help establish consistent engineering practices across teams.
• Define and promote responsible use of AI-assisted development tools

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on Drupal development experience, including demonstrated architecture or technical leadership responsibilities.
• Strong solution-estimation skills, including the ability to identify assumptions, dependencies, risks, and implementation complexity.
• Experience designing and implementing integrations with third-party services and enterprise systems.
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards and their application to solution architecture and development.
• Proficiency with PHP, Composer, Git, dependency management, and modern Drupal development workflows.
• Experience with Git-based platforms and CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Buddy.
• Experience deploying and supporting Drupal applications on platforms such as Acquia or Pantheon.
• Ability to communicate technical recommendations clearly to clients, vendors, project stakeholders, and team members.
• Experience leading code reviews, defining development standards, and providing constructive technical feedback.
• Sound judgment when using AI-assisted development tools, considering security, privacy and risk.

We offer a generous compensation and benefits package. The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $120,000-$140,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
