AWS Integration Architect

Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS Integration Architect / Senior Integration Engineer to design and implement scalable integration solutions using AWS-native services. This role will play a key part in modernizing and migrating existing integration platforms (including MuleSoft) to AWS, leveraging event-driven and API-first architectures.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing distributed systems and integrations on AWS, deep knowledge of modern integration patterns, and the ability to clearly document and communicate architectural solutions across technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evolve cloud-native integration architectures on AWS
  • Lead and support the migration of integrations from MuleSoft to AWS-native services
  • Develop and maintain integration patterns using services such as AWS Lambda, API Gateway, AWS EventBridge, and AWS Step Functions
  • Architect secure, scalable solutions within AWS VPC networking environments
  • Design event-driven, REST-based, and GraphQL-based integration architectures
  • Define best practices for API management, event orchestration, and service-to-service communication
  • Produce clear architectural diagrams and technical documentation describing integration flows and system interactions
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, platform teams, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs
  • Establish reusable integration frameworks, patterns, and standards
  • Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to enterprise architecture strategy

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience designing and implementing integration solutions
  • 3+ years experience working with AWS services
  • Hands-on experience with key AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, Step Functions, SNS/SQS, VPC)
  • Strong understanding of modern integration patterns, including:
    • REST APIs
    • GraphQL APIs
    • Event-driven architecture
    • Asynchronous messaging
    • Microservices integration patterns
  • Experience designing scalable, resilient distributed systems
  • Ability to create architecture diagrams, integration flow diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional
  • Experience migrating integrations from MuleSoft or other ESB/iPaaS platforms
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures and event-driven systems
  • Experience implementing observability, monitoring, and logging for integration platforms
  • Knowledge of security best practices for APIs and event-driven systems
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform)

The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $140,000-$160,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
