Site Reliability Engineer

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Americaneagle.com, you'll be a critical part of our team, ensuring the efficient operation of our websites and managed services. You'll leverage your expertise in various aspects of computing, programming, and internet technologies to maintain and optimize our systems. This role requires a versatile individual comfortable with a range of responsibilities from resolving site issues to performance optimization and security management.

Responsibilities:
  • Site Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve issues across the entire website flow, including browser, CDN/WAF/Network/Load Balancer, web server/code, database, integrations, and server performance. Utilize tools like Application Performance Monitoring (APM tools), log4net, and local profiling to diagnose and fix problems
  • Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks on client side (use browser tools, lighthouse tests). For server side, employ APM tools such as AppDynamics and NewRelic for monitoring and optimizations. Identify and rectify code bottlenecks and inefficient database queries. Continuously seek and recommend improvements in processes and technologies 
  • Traffic and Bot Analysis: Manage traffic filtering and bot analysis, including IP range and user agent filters. Analyze traffic logs with SQL-like queries for detailed insights and visibility. Recommend remediation for DDoS attacks using CDN and/or code enhancements. 
  • Security Bridging: Act as a liaison between the programming, operations, and security engineers. Assist in replicating exploits, managing CC Velocity Attacks, and other security challenges. Use APM tools (mostly AppDynamics) and logs to look for patterns. Familiarize with tools like SonarQube for continuous inspection of code quality. 

Required Skills: 

  • Proficiency in programming and scripting in any language 
  • Expertise in HTTP, Browsers, Javascript, HTML/CSS
  • Experience with database queries and operations
  • Understanding of hardware, network, bandwidth, and related units
  • Knowledge in log parsing and adherence to logging standards
  • Prior use of APM tools
