Americaneagle.com wants to continue to expand its services with web accessibility and remediation specialists. We want to improve websites for all types of users and help spread inclusive concepts. As our Accessibility Specialist you will be front facing with clients to help test and validate web based user interfaces against compliance regulations such as Section 508, ADA, and AODA. From that testing, you will utilize your nuanced understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to help clients with remediation work and thorough documentation. All along, you are helping consult and create a good plan of due diligence to help improve clients' web experience.

The main focus of accessibility review at our company is around WCAG 2.1 but the larger goal is to improve site usability as a whole with a universal design mindset. Responsibilities:
  • Consultation - consult with clients on both a technical level of how to resolve issues as well as helping develop processes and content governance
  • Testing and Planning - work with clients to determine the testing environment, requirements, and goals. You will test systems against a mixture of automated, specific manual tests, and assistive technology tools
  • Reporting / Documentation - deliver results of accessibility audits and tests as well as participate in follow-up communication with clients
  • Protocol Development - contribute to internal processes to improve our support process for customers and end users
  • Remediation - utilize development and technical skills to actually go into code and documents in order to resolve accessibility barriers
  • Educate - help foster knowledge and growth in both internal and external communities
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of accessibility driven work
  • 2+ years of HTML, CSS, JavaScript experience
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG, WAI-ARIA, and ACT
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience in using accessibility tools such as JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover, ZoomText, Dragon NaturallySpeaking
  • Experience in manual, functional and compatibility testing
  • Strong organization and documentation skills
Desirable Skills/Credentials:
  • Remediation experience for PDF and other document formats
  • Experience with Accessibility Management Platforms
  • Built or contributed to building accessibility testing tools
  • IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
  • Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certification
  • Department of Homeland Security Section 508 Trusted Tester Certification v5
